What to Expect
🌿 Getting Started with Counselling
If you’ve never had counselling before, it’s completely natural to feel unsure or even a little nervous. Opening up to someone new can feel strange at first, but counselling is designed to be a safe, supportive space where you can explore whatever is on your mind and at your own pace.

💬 What is counselling?
Counselling is a form of psychotherapy where you talk with a trained professional about personal, emotional, psychological, or behavioural challenges that may be affecting your wellbeing or day‑to‑day life. It offers a confidential environment where you can:
-
Explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences
-
Understand yourself more deeply
-
Develop healthier ways of coping
-
Gain clarity and make informed decisions
As a person-centered counsellor I won't tell you what to do - I walk alongside you, offering support, guidance, and tools to help you navigate difficulties and improve your mental wellbeing.

🔄 My Approach
Choosing the right counsellor is an important step. Qualifications and experience matter, but so does finding someone you feel comfortable opening up to—sometimes about things you may never have shared before. My clients often tell me that my calm, kind presence helps them feel at ease and able to talk openly.

During our time together, my aim is to build a relationship based on trust, acceptance, respect, and compassion. I work in a person‑centered way, keeping you at the heart of every session and offering a safe, supportive environment. Working in this way allows you to shape your therapy in a manner that feels right for you, while empowering you to discover solutions you can carry forward into your life. Whoever you are and whatever you bring, you will be listened to and accepted.

Counselling is a talking therapy, and talking about feelings isn’t always easy. You may struggle to find the words or even to connect with your emotions at first. I’ll support you gently as you explore your experiences and the impact they’ve had on you, always at a pace that feels manageable. Together, we can help you find ways to cope more effectively and take meaningful steps forward.
